Week IDK anymore

...I am not even sure where to begin, when I started this project (I don't remember how long again -phew-) I never thought I'd get this far...frankly I am sure anyone I told thought the same thing...every time I go into forums or discords I do tend to see a lot of new game dev's wanting to dip there toes into the MMORPG market, or something similar and make a game that they can't make that they don't even know where to begin, honestly I probably shouldn't have either but eh...there is always edge cases right?

Dream big or go home is how I was raised, but I will say that after god only knows how many weeks of on and off again game development that I am here now...with a mostly stable client/server.

Frankly it all started a few years ago on another project...yes a online game get off my back would you? lol...anyway I had this idea for a 2D isometric game called Shine Ville, it was a fun project to work on had great art honestly I bit off more then I could chew I went from using GoDot to reinventing the wheel, everything from my own rendering library, UI systems, networking library even a scripting language, but it kinda burnt me out between work at the time and other things I really lost my way with that game, placed it on the back burner. Then I had a new idea a survival game based in the old west where we are now, well I did some major recoding on my server at the time my server was written purely in C++ with some python backend support. I went ahead and started porting it all over to python, once I got the server finished I decided instead of reinventing the wheel, I went with Unity for my rendering needs I knew it was going to be in 3D and Atlas Game Engine was not fully ready for PBR textures and semi realistic 3D graphics I didn't want to over do myself again. So here we are...how many weeks later I don't know... The server is stable the client is stable and we are in play test mode...don't get to excited just yet, it's still a WIP the features that are present right now... Server Authority(server does sanity checks for each move) Server Players a pre-defined locations Server Spawns NPCs (only when players are around) Chat system - pretty basic right now doesn't allow for nicknames or whispers (yet ;) ) Client does it's thing decently enough some spaghetti code but it'll get better as I go along.
